DMC: "New Life" by Keri Collins Lewis
NEW LIFE
Tiny head
rests on my shoulder,
hand on my neck
curled in sleep,
delicate breaths
fill me with peace.

What a treat to see a poem by Keri Collins Lewis! Beautiful details and imagery. I feel like I'm there.
ReplyDeleteKeri,
ReplyDeleteI have a photo of me with my 11 day old granddaughter nestling at my neck. This poem brings back such perfect memories. I think I will frame it with the picture which has always been such a favorite. Oh how I adored her from the first instant and still do. Thank you. Janet Clare F.
I'm filled with peace just reading this poem, Keri! 20 years ago for my firstborn and I still remember those delicate breaths so well.
ReplyDeleteYes. This. I used to pray that I could remember these moments if ever I were incapacitated in some way...that just those moment I be given to get through. They were the best.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful way to capture the moment with a newborn. There is nothing like the feeling.
ReplyDeleteAwwww. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteThat would make everything all right, Keri. Beautiful feelings here!
