DMC: "I Wonder" by Cory Corrado
I WONDER
(to be read from BOTTOM to TOP)
t o o
with wonder
gaze down upon me
I wonder whether Stars and Moon
to walk among the stars and moon
imagining how it would feel
eyes raised up to the sky
I stroll each night
the twilight

Post your poem on our September 2018 padlet. While some contributions will be featured as daily ditties this month, all contributions will be included in a wrap-up presentation on Friday, September 28th, and one lucky participant will win a personalized copy of her latest collection of poetry from Greenwillow Books:

I love how you play with form in your poem, Cory, and also with the double meaning of "wonder." Now I'd like to read Star and Moon's poem in response!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Michelle! I wonder what their response will be too. I will listen carefully and keep you posted.

Oh yes! You must write the reply!
ReplyDeleteHi Liz,
ReplyDeleteI will do my best. Am looking forward to my twilight stroll this evening!
Cory
I like how you make us travel upward with the form. Shake us up, Cory!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tabatha. The poem kind of took on a life of its own and chose this form. I gladly followed where it lead.
ReplyDeleteCory
ooops! . . . where it led.
ReplyDeleteLove the bottom to top, wonder-filled view Cory!
ReplyDeleteOh,Buffy, thank you so much. I remember the wonder-filled views we experienced on our walk together. It seems like yesterday . .

Cory: Kudos on this lovely poem! It reminded me of a face I saw this past week, a friend of mine listening to music, eyes closed but face lifted and expectant... it spoke of hope and wonder. Your poem is the same... and what more can we ask? I look forward to the response...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Karen! And I still remember when we strolled under a starlit sky that listened discreetly to our poetic chatter.
DeleteStars, moon, and I will rendez-vous at twilight.
Cory
Lovely images and clever structure. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rosi. Twilight is my favorite time of the day. A kind of meditation where I feel such wonder at the ever changing beauty of the skyscape.

Oh, I do love a good poem in reverse. And, this is one! I love that the celestial beings wonder over us too. Lovely, just lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Linda! It is comforting to know we do not walk alone.

Love the reverse of the poem. It is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteWhen I go for my twilight walk
this evening, I will gaze at the heavens
with much gratitude, tell them about the poem they inspired,
and then, just
L I S T E N . . .
all the way home

Marvelous–filled with all things fanciful!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Michelle.

This is great, Cory! I can picture it very beautifully illustrated--though the illustration is unneeded to make it beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rebekah! The night sky always leaves in breath-taken. As does autumn. I wish you a beautiful colorful one.
