THE PAST SAVES THE PAST
This dinosaur dad, he really was bad
at certain things others achieved.
Feeling quite daunted
from an action he wanted;
riding bicycles left him aggrieved.
His arms were too short, legs overlong,
no scrunching his body made sense.
The kids were frustrated
said “Dad, we’re outdated”
We’re all being labeled “past tense”.
A lightbulb then lit; Dad knows of a fit
for bodies that feel too passé,
velocipedes devised
are what he advised.
They cheered Dad when riding away.

Click HERE to read this month's interview with Deborah Bruss and Matt Forrest Esenwine. They've challenged us to write a poem about something you would not expect a dinosaur (or another kind of animal) to do.
Leave your poem on our April 2018 padlet. While some contributions will be featured as daily ditties this month, all contributions will be included in a wrap-up celebration on Friday, April 27th, and one lucky participant will win a personalized copy of their fun new rhyming picture book from POW! Haha! What wonderful, whimsical dino-ingenuity. Well done, Linda!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Michelle and for posting, too. I love that you found that postcard pic, just what I imagined!
DeleteHilarious solution. :-)
ReplyDeleteFantastic! I love the post card too. You got the word aggrieved in there. I’m impressed
ReplyDeleteLet me just cheer Linda for this clever poem!
ReplyDeleteLove the picture, Michelle--totally what I pictured--and Linda, this made me chuckle! Love the lines:

ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone. This was such a fun challenge. Dinosaurs rock!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant, Linda!
ReplyDeleteDashing poem Linda, I smiled all the way through! Wonderful pic to accompany it too!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what's more impressive - Linda's poem or the fact that Michelle found the perfect graphic to accompany it!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Linda's poem, Matt! Googling dinosaur and velocipede was easy. :)
DeleteMy FB page just led to these added comments. Thank you very much, Bridget, Michelle and Matt. It may have been 'easy' to find the pic, Michelle, but I'm glad you did the 'easy' and found it!
