DMC: "At Maybury" by Rebekah Hoeft

We walk, we four, on earthen paths
made silent with damp leaves
that blanket all the space below
and glow above—our lamp.

Unearthly light is our delight
and earthy scents, a balm.
The woods, they rest, and we—for now—
at peace, know Heaven's calm.

  1. Thanks for your comforting and moving poem Rebekah!

Thanks for your thoughts Michelle, and especially thoughts of kindness.

    Happy Thanks Giving!

  2. A lovely place to take us on this day of Thanksgiving, Rebekah. Thank you, and thanks, Michelle. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

  3. Thank you for the calm wood walk, Rebekah!

    1. I'm glad you like it.
BTW, you've written about mushrooms quite a bit, haven't you? I actually thought of you while on this walk because we saw so many different kinds and such huge specimens! I drove my family a little crazy making them stop to let me take, what turned out to be, blurry pictures of the most impressive ones.

  4. All I need to do is read this poem and a wave of calm rushes over me. Thanks, Rebekah!

    1. :)
Maybury is one of my favorite places. Just driving into the parking lots makes me feel lighter.
      Thanks for posting this, Michelle!
