DMC: "Music Therapy" by Linda Mitchell
MUSIC THERAPY
When Mom lay still in a hospice bed
I called my oldest friend, a music therapist
I needed Mom’s favorite hymns.
With piano and voice my friend sent love.
I called my oldest friend, a music therapist
Whom should I send?
Here I am Lord,
I needed Mom’s favorite hymns.
it is I Lord,
I have heard you calling in the night
With piano and voice my friend sent love
I will go Lord, where you lead me
I will hold your people in my heart

So beautiful, Linda. Thank you for touching my heart.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michelle...this waiting time during Covid-19 reminded me of this time with my Mom
ReplyDeleteMy brother who is a music director in his church told me that the congregation online requested more hymns to listen to than anything else. This is lovely, Linda, a true blessing shown that was for you!
ReplyDeleteBrought tears to my eyes, Linda! Singing people home is just about the most empathetic thing ever.
ReplyDeleteThis poem resonates with your love for your mom.
ReplyDeleteOh the power of music. Oh the power of poetry!
