DMC: "Epitaph for a Reader" by Molly Hogan

EPITAPH FOR A READER

She piled books beside her bed
some to read, some already read
Throughout the years her bookstack grew
classics, mysteries, novels, too
The content of these tomes fulfilled her
sadly a massive bookslide killed her

Click HERE to read this month's interview with J. Patrick Lewis and Jane Yolen. They have challenged us to write an epitaph poem—a funny or clever verse that might appear on your chosen subject's tombstone.

Post your poem on our February 2018 padlet. While some contributions will be featured as daily ditties this month, all contributions will be included in a wrap-up celebration on Friday, February 23rd, and one lucky participant will win a copy of their morbidly humorous collection from Charlesbridge:

  1. Oh my, should we all be worried? Wonderfully deadpan epitaph, Molly. The rhythm and rhyme is just right!

    1. Thank YOU, Molly. Your poem is the perfect way to start off this month's ditty fest... I may have to straighten up my bedside table before going to sleep tonight, however. ;)
