DMC: "Just a Little Ditty" by Rebekah Hoeft

When I posted David L. Harrison's poem yesterday, I mentioned that no one's brought a poem to the potluck based on his challenge yet. In February 2016, David challenged us to write poems inspired by the word "ditty." Right on cue, Rebekah Hoeft responded with this pretty little ditty.

JUST A LITTLE DITTY

Some may claim their love in stanzas,
Eighty-paged extravaganzas;
Bet their darlings won't remember
What was written come December.

My way differs oh so slightly:
Verses few that trip so lightly;
Little ditties stick so nicely,
State my cause just so precisely.

Option 2: One copy of The Best of Today's Little Ditty, plus a $20 gift card to purchase a poetry book(s) of your choice.

Option 3: A $25 gift card if you already have all the copies of The Best of TLD you need.

  1. Oh, Easter Break, let me count the ways...
    I think I'll write a ditty about how much I love being off for a week and having time to write little ditties on command! Or maybe it should be an ode. Or perhaps a poem about refuge and solace!? Whatevs--thanks as usual for the inspiration, Michelle (and David!)!

    I love your alphabetized list, by the way--I linked it to my desktop so I have no excuse for not writing something.

    1. Thanking my lucky stars for any and all ditties that arise from your Spring Break giddiness, Rebekah! LOVE this breath of ditty sunshine, and your Deeper Wisdom poem, too.(I actually had your DW poem scheduled for today, but after I saw your response to David's post, I felt a switcheroo was in order.)

  2. Your ditty and then your comment reminded me of that Cat Stevens song recently on tv, "If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out" Rebekah. Love that you did write something to sing!

    1. :) Thank you, Linda! My husband is not so thrilled when I sing out. To be fair, I believe that everything is a song lyric and he feels like maybe not quite!

      I think I'm going to have to go with your sentiment.
