DMC: "Anxiety" by Kathleen Mazurowski
ANXIETY
Creeps into dreams.
Steals sleep.
Doubts decisions,
But
it could have. . .
It might have. . .
It would have. . .
It should have. . .
I wake up sweaty,
Heart palpitating.
Breathe.

I know this dream-creeping sleep-stealer, Kathy, and you've represented him/her/it well. That last line is key!
ReplyDeleteSad, but true. The way you wrote the poem shows that intensity well.
ReplyDeleteI like this so much I don't like it. I think that's good. Where's happy?! I need happy. STAT!
ReplyDeleteAnxiety and I do have occasional meetings, and it was always like this. Thanks, Kathleen.
ReplyDeleteThat's an overpowering anxiety, and a powerful poem!
