DMC: "Disssgusssting" by Bridget Magee

DISSSGUSSSTING

I lie here
among the
dead grassesss,
crunchy leavesss,
withered ssscrub.

I am minding
my own
busssinesss
sssoaking up
the sssun,
basssking in
the heat.

Then I feel
them...

thud, thud, thud

- the legged onesss -

coming clossser...

THUD, THUD, THUD!

I ssslip,
I ssslither,
I ssslink
away.

But ssstill
they
ssscream,
"Snake!"

Disssgusssting.

  1. Love it, Bridget. Out of the mouthssss. A family hiked this week in a nearby popular place outside Denver and their young child was bitten by a rattle snake. She'll be okay. But the alarm put forth of what parents should do because of this will keep many kids in their own backyards. Thanks for giving a voice to the snake for a change.

    1. Thanks, Linda! Eek, I hate to hear of a child (anyone actually)getting bit by a snake. It is very important to stay aware. =)
