How bold of me to begin this month of well-filling with my own poem! In part, it's to celebrate today's arrival of IMPERFECT II: poems about perspective, an anthology for middle schoolers, where this poem has found a home. But I also thought it was a good choice for imagining where this month's inspirational journey might lead us. Take my hand. Let's go.

Beginning this month with your "Road to Becoming" is perfect! Thanks also for sharing that fabulous song-- I love "run away from the hum drum" and so many other lines. It's such a delight to be reading your blog again!
ReplyDeleteAww thanks, Molly. Isn't "Come Along" great? I love all the kidlit references!
DeleteReally enjoying "Come Along," M.! So catchy. I'm happy to come along with you. Thanks for everything! xo
ReplyDeleteMiranda turned me on to Cosmo Sheldrake. "Come Along" is one of my favorites, for sure. Glad to be celebrating IMPERFECT II with you today!
DeleteI love your poem, both the words and the shape. If I were still teaching, I would pair it with Frost's THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED, and ask students to write their own responses. Happy National Poetry Month!
ReplyDeleteTaking one's own path feels important and needed for good feelings, Michelle. It's a thoughtful way to help us all begin. Love that song, too!
ReplyDeleteLove that corner turn in your poem! Here's to following your road.
ReplyDeleteWonderful poem to share for this month Michelle!
ReplyDeleteI'm filled up–Glad there's a corner still available, I like the shape your poem takes metaphorically and physically! And thanks for that lively new to me poem-song "Come Along!"
ReplyDeleteI love The Road to Becoming, Michelle. What a wonderful marriage of words and shape. I look forward to re-reading it in the anthology.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for sharing the Come Along! song, too.

Thanks for this fantastic invitation to come come come along for some corner-turning and heart-lifting!
ReplyDeleteI'm ready! Let's go. I don't see anything wrong with starting out this month with your own poem. How else would you measure your time on the path? And, Hooray! for Imperfect II. It's like Poetry Friday polished, bound and something we can give to friends.
ReplyDelete"You can still turn the corner"--and get a new perspective! This just makes me want to get my hands on the book faster. And COSMO SHELDRAKE? you bet! Looking forward to all the inspiration.
