DMC: "For This Lady, A Clerihew Debut" by Linda Baie

FOR THIS LADY, A CLERIHEW DEBUT

Listen! Announcing that Lady called Gaga
whose trade clothes fill scenes of an ongoing saga.
Yet who cares what she wears when she sings us a tune?
for that’s when she makes us fall into a swoon.

Kwame Alexander has challenged us to write a clerihew this month. What's a clerihew, you ask? Click HERE for details.

Send your funny four-liner to TodaysLittleDitty (at) gmail (dot) com, or use the contact form in the sidebar to the right. All contributions will be included in a wrap-up celebration on Friday, April 24th. One lucky participant will win an autographed copy of THE CROSSOVER, which received the 2015 John Newbery Medal for the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.

  1. And if anyone was in doubt, her performance at the Oscars certainly sealed the deal! Swooning over your clerihew, Linda – great job!

  2. I think the Oscar performance is what's kept Lady Gaga in mind. Thanks for having me, Michelle. Now I'll have to find some other people to write about!

  3. Michelle,
In your interview with Kwame, you included a graphic of Basketball Rules #1. Where did you get that? Are the other 9 rules available in the same jpg format? I love the RULES and I want copies of those. Thanks for your help and thanks for a great interview.

    1. The Houghton Mifflin Harcourt website: http://hmhyoungreadersblog.com/teens/middle-grade/go-on-and-off-the-basketball-court-with-the-crossover-by-kwame-alexander/ Rule #1 is the only one I've seen in that format.

  4. I don't know why Lady Gaga needs the crazy clothes and name; her voice is amazing. Great job with this challenge, Linda.
