DMC: "Epitaffy" by Robyn Hood Black
EPITAFFY
Pulled and stretched
in twists and turns -
picky permutation.
A chomp. A chew.
The End. Of You.
(Sticky situation….)

Click HERE to read this month's interview with J. Patrick Lewis and Jane Yolen. They have challenged us to write an epitaph poem—a funny or clever verse that might appear on your chosen subject's tombstone.
Post your poem on our February 2018 padlet. While some contributions will be featured as daily ditties this month, all contributions will be included in a wrap-up celebration on Friday, February 23rd, and one lucky participant will win a copy of their morbidly humorous collection from Charlesbridge:
Hee-hee...this epitaffy makes my teeth hurt, Robyn! Brava! =)
ReplyDeleteFun!
ReplyDeleteFun to say, fun to chew. Makes me think of gooey blue goo. :)
ReplyDeleteFunny! Short and sweet, just like a piece of taffy.
ReplyDeleteI was always fascinated by those taffy machines twisting and turning. Wonderful "EPITAFFY", Robyn.
ReplyDeleteWhat I want to know, Robyn, is how many innocent pieces of taffy were harmed in the writing of this poem...? LOL.
ReplyDeleteHa--this one is fun, Robyn. (But there's a crown on one of my teeth to remind me of the last time I brought taffy to its demise--the taffy did not go gently into that good mouth.)
ReplyDeleteLove the title, Robyn! So clever!
ReplyDeleteThose two words, permutation and situation, are such great choices. Laffy taffy epitaffy!
ReplyDeleteSo clever! My grandma, who lived to see 96, told me kids didn’t “date” in her day. They went to each other’s homes & pulled taffy, made fudge, & made popcorns balls. (And then had cavities.
ReplyDeleteSuch cleverness, Robyn! I remember seeing a taffy pull long ago.
ReplyDeleteFun!
ReplyDeleteSo clever! Instead of printing jokes on their wrappers, Laffy Taffy should include this poem.
ReplyDeleteFunny Robyn, thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you, all, for these cavity-filled-smile-inducing comments! ;0) (Michelle HB, yours cracks me up. I only had the taffy in my imagination, but I think I should pick some up next time I'm at the candy shop in town for some post-poem pondering, don't you?)
