DOLLY
You thought I was asleep
But I peeked from beneath the sheets
And saw you move

Gah! Talky Tina is back! (Did you ever see that Twilight Zone episode?) Ruined me for life. Thanks for the memories, Rebecca! LOL
ReplyDeleteAaaaah...I know that Twilight Zone episode! Super creepy. Rebecca, you've made me want to cram all of my son's stuffed animals in a closet and lock the door!
DeleteI do remember that episode! Love the Twilight Zone!
DeleteI am so scared of old dolls your poem is wonderful
ReplyDeleteSo perfect in such a few words. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThis was a fun poem to write. When I was young, I was terrified that my dolls would come to life while I was asleep. I would always tuck them in nicely and make sure the covers weren't over their faces., That way, if they ever came to life that would be like "this little girl takes care of us, we won't hurt her...this time."
ReplyDeleteAnother quick creepy doll story. I once found a pile of doll torsos and another pile of their pulled off appendages in my then 3-year-old's room. I asked her why she did this and she said "So they don't get up and walk around at night, Mommy."
ReplyDeleteYour killin' me with these stories, Rebecca! Funny how the doll anxiety passed down from mother to daughter, but you each dealt with it in your own ways! Gotta love your 3-year-old's proactive solution. :D
DeleteSo creepy in so few words! Good job!
ReplyDeleteLove the creep factor and your daughter's story adds a whole new dimension! Great job!
