DMC: "Echoes" by Brenda Davis Harsham
ECHOES
Anyone who falters to a stop,
mid breath, and
lets her words breathe,
then echo,
then die,
is a poet.
Splash your words,
on a page,
flowery or stark,
happy or dark,
make your mark.
Let them tell
their own tale
during this Month
of Poetic Madness.
I hope this April
brings you breathless
to May,
unwilling to stop,
the die cast,
the step taken,
hesitation forgotten,
your voice found,
naked
and admired.

In celebration of National Poetry Month, Marilyn Singer has challenged us to write poems inspired by the word "echo." Click HERE for more details.
Send your poem to TodaysLittleDitty (at) gmail (dot) com, or use the contact form in the sidebar to the right. All contributions will be included in a wrap-up celebration on Friday, April 29th, and one lucky participant will win a copy of her fantastic new collection of reverso poems based on Greek myths:
How I love this breathless poetic madness, Brenda! Thank you for lending your beautiful voice to Marilyn Singer's challenge. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michelle for your words and your hard work here in this Poetry Palace of a Ditty City. :-)
DeleteOooh! "this Poetry Palace of a Ditty City" — I like that! You do have a way with words, Ms. Brenda.
DeleteIt's a beautiful beginning to this month of echoes, Brenda, and an inspiration for April, "breathless" till May. I love "splash your words/on a page".
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda B! I'm breathless by the end of the day, not to mention by May! :-)
DeleteHa! I love the same exact parts that Linda Baie mentioned above. Great minds think alike;>) Great poem, Brenda!
ReplyDeleteLaura, you are lovely! Thanks for your kind and supportive words for my poem that started its humble life as a comment. :-)
DeleteI am hoping to find my voice this poetry month, but there are days when I feel like it's just plain madness. Thanks for starting us off on the echo parade.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting, Margaret. I hope to hear your voice. I always feel a tinge of madness takes this from ordinary to extraordinary. ;-)
