DMC: "Planning Your Treehouse" by Michelle H. Barnes




Planning Your Treehouse

When building a treehouse you need to be clever,
so making a plan is a useful endeavor:
  • The walls should be strong like a tough armadillo.
  • The floor should be soft, like your favorite pillow.
  • No need for a roof, since the rain won’t affect you.
    (Your leafy umbrella will always protect you.)
  • Now this is important– the last thing you’ll need
    is a shelf full of books so there’s plenty to read.

    There was a tree at my grandparents' house where my grandfather built a little platform, not really a house, but someplace I could go to sit and read. Your poem took me there, with pillow soft & books to read. Wonderful, Michelle!

      Too bad most of the armadillos I see 'round these parts are roadkill. They may need to be just a tad tougher.

    This is wonderful, Michelle--love it. My favorite line is: your leafy umbrella will always protect you. Looking forward to reading Moose--who doesn't want their very own treehouse!!

      Nah. The one we had was perfect! As I recall, the floor was particularly soft the year of the tent caterpillar invasion. ;)

    I love this one! The walls strong as a tough armadillo is just so clever and I think your rhymes are interesting and perfect. I need to get caught up on your blog and maybe try my hand at this. It's a fun challenge.
