DMC: "Lady Lindy" by M. H. Barnes
LADY LINDY
Amelia Earhart, aviator,
lived for now instead of later.
Told that girls were not robust,
she up and left them in her dust.

Kwame Alexander has challenged us to write a clerihew this month. What's a clerihew, you ask? Click HERE for details.
Send your funny four-liner to TodaysLittleDitty (at) gmail (dot) com, or use the contact form in the sidebar to the right. All contributions will be included in a wrap-up celebration on Friday, April 24th. One lucky participant will win an autographed copy of THE CROSSOVER, which received the 2015 John Newbery Medal for the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
Nicely done, Michelle! Love your rhymes.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tabatha. I was inspired to write about Amelia after reading your clerihew about another amazing woman! Can't wait to share it tomorrow. :)
DeleteYes, she did, leave them in her dust, Michelle. Nice to see this about Amelia!
ReplyDeleteShe was quite the force of nature, wasn't she! Thanks, Linda.
DeleteMichelle, you should go to the library and see if they have a copy of the documentary Breaking through the Clouds: the First Women's National Air Derby.! Those ladies were awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation, Diane – I'll be sure to check it out.
DeleteLove it! I hope there'll be an anthology about strong women to be published and I hope your poem will be in it. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet comment, Teresa! I'd be the first in line to buy an anthology like that. :)
DeleteI think we need another volume of Poetry Friday anthologies about strong women. This one could start the show!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Margaret– from one strong woman to another. :)
