DMC: "Oak Flyer Found In Nearby Woods" by Linda Baie
Oak Flyer Found In Nearby Woods
The summer has flown with your babies.
You’re wondering where you will go.
If you aren’t flying south for the winter,
then visit my open house show.
Come make your home in my branches.
You’ll find splendid places for nests.
I’ve crooks in the limbs for construction.
Please consider moving in as my guests.
I don’t drop my leaves in the autumn;
you’ll keep warm through wintertime chills.
I’m the best boarding house in the forest.
Opening arms to the chirps, cheeps and trills.

I'm loving the tree's welcoming voice in this poem, Linda. I don't chirp, cheep, or trill, but it certainly sounds like home sweet home to me!
ReplyDeleteI just spent the morning on various errands, paying attention to the trees, certainly sheltering quite a few animals now! Thanks for welcoming me, Michelle!
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific poem! Thanks so much for sharing it. I love the voice of the tree.
ReplyDeleteLove hearing from this tree, Linda--particularly the line: "I'm the best boarding house in the forest." Very nice!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I love the inviting voice of your tree. You obviously worked to make the rhyme and rhythm work, my biggest challenge. "Opening arms to the chirps, cheeps, and trills." A symphony of sound.
ReplyDeleteThis is just wonderful, Linda! It greets the season!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your compliments everyone. I appreciate the words. It was fun taking the challenge, and yes, Penny, fall thoughts are coming in fast!
ReplyDeleteOpen branches, open heart! Love the tone, rhyme, and rhythm of this poem, Linda! =)
